Samsung’s flagship
smartphone lineup is heading for a major shift next year. Following yesterday's
rumors that the standard Galaxy S26 model may be scrapped in favor of a new
"Galaxy S26 Pro", today brings even stronger evidence. A device named
Galaxy S26 Pro has now been spotted in the GSM Association's IMEI
database, carrying the model number SM-S942U1. Notably, this model
number had previously been associated with the Galaxy S26, suggesting a
rebranding—or a strategic upgrade.
Earlier listings
included an entry for the Galaxy S26 name with a similar model number, but that
appears to be outdated, further fueling speculation that Samsung is moving
ahead with a new naming scheme. There's also talk that the Galaxy S26 Edge
might replace the traditional S26+ model.
The biggest unanswered question remains whether the Galaxy S26 Pro is simply a renamed S26 or if it will boast upgraded specifications to justify the "Pro" label. Rumors also hint at a potential price hike compared to the current Galaxy S25, which starts at around $699 for the 128GB variant and $730 for the 256GB model.
With Samsung possibly aligning its naming with other premium brands using “Pro” and “Edge” labels, fans are eagerly waiting for more confirmed specs. Stay tuned—we’ll keep you posted as more details emerge.
